How I Became Interested in Hypnosis
Back in 1978 I took a great class which at the time was called Silva Mind Control. I learned how to visualize, and I learned self hypnosis. The first time I used visualization I imagined myself sitting at the wheel of my “new” gold VW Bug. I could feel the movement of the car, look over the hood and feel myself driving down the street. I imagined this scene every day while I was at my “Alpha Level”. When the car dealer called me 3 weeks later to let me know he found a gold VW Bug for me I was shocked!
At that time I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life, so I decided to get a corporate job. One year later I found myself using self hypnosis every day – for about 5 minutes a day. I was preparing to take the most important exam in my life. And it was a 6 hour exam. Ugh. I was nervous, worried and had about a teaspoonful of confidence. Using self hypnosis I eliminated my fears and successfully passed the New York Stock Exchange Series 7 Exam to become a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch.
So…with a background in graphic arts and photography I found myself selling stocks. As a broker, I used self hypnosis to help with cold calls and to help me feel comfortable giving talks. When I gave a seminar to over 200 people at the John Wanamaker Department Store, I found myself actually enjoying speaking in public. I knew then that the positive technique of hypnosis had enabled me to do things that I never imagined I could do.
Fast forward many years and I am now helping others with hypnosis. I see many clients each week. I believe that no matter how old you are, you can always benefit from hypnosis. My clients have ranged from 8 years to 75. From an eight year old who wanted to stop sucking his thumb to a 72 year old woman who was ready to stop smoking. Anytime is a good time to improve the quality of your life.
